The Difference between Silicone Gel and Silicone Rubber(II)
Two-component room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (RTV-2) has no RTV-1 rubber in use, but its component ratio is varied. A variety of vulcanized products with various specifications and properties can be obtained. It can also be deeply vulcanized. Therefore, it is widely used in electronic appliances, automobiles, machinery, construction, textiles, chemical industry, light industry and printing. Such industries as insulation, packaging, seaming, sealing, moisture-proof, anti-seismic and roll-making materials. In addition, because of its excellent demoulding performance, RTV-2 has been widely used as a soft die material in the reproduction and manufacture of cultural relics, handicrafts, toys, electronic appliances, mechanical parts, etc.
One of the typical applications of silicone sealant is glass curtain wall. Glass and aluminium alloy frames are bonded with silicone structural adhesives as exterior wall materials, while expansion joints are waterproof and sealed with silicone weatherproof adhesives. Other applications include peripheral seals for aluminium alloy doors and windows and plastic-steel doors and windows, seams for glass installation and moving slots, rivets and fixed screw seals: water-proof seals between kitchen, bathroom, toilet sanitary ware and countertops, walls and furniture; aquariums, skylights, metal roofs, showcases and counters. Sealing of protective wall panels and coloured steel plates; Waterproof seam sealing between high-grade highway plates, etc.
In addition to building sealants, RTV also includes sealants for aerospace, nuclear power plants, electronics, machinery, automotive and other industries, organic silicon sealants for electronic components, organic silicon mold sealants for soft mold materials, etc. The demand for these varieties is relatively small, but in many cases they are indispensable.
Inorganic silica gel (silica gel)
Inorganic silica gel is a kind of highly active adsorption material, which is usually prepared by reaction of sodium silicate with sulfuric acid and a series of post-treatment processes such as aging and acid bubbles. Silica gel belongs to amorphous substance and its chemical formula is mSiO 2.nH 2. It is insoluble in water and any solvents, non-toxic and tasteless, stable in chemical properties, and does not react with any substance except strong alkali and hydrofluoric acid. Different types of silica gels have different microporous structures because of their different manufacturing methods.
The chemical composition and physical structure of silica gel determine that it has many characteristics which are difficult to replace by other similar materials: high adsorption performance, good thermal stability, chemical stability, high mechanical strength and so on. Because of its chemical properties, it can be used for many kinds of silica gel products, such as silica gel sealing rings, silica gel sealing strips, silica gel kitchen utensils and so on.
Silica gel can be divided into macroporous silica gel, coarse porous silica gel, B type silica gel and fine porous silica gel according to its pore size. Because of the different pore structure, their adsorption properties have their own characteristics. Coarse-porous silica gel has higher adsorption capacity in the case of high relative humidity, while fine-porous silica gel has higher adsorption capacity in the case of low relative humidity than coarse-porous silica gel. Macroporous silica gel is generally used as catalyst carrier, extinction agent, toothpaste abrasive and so on.
From the point of view of the product classification, application characteristics and precautions of silica gel, silicone rubber raw materials and liquid silicone rubber raw materials, they will have their own differences. The application technology and main application uses of silica gel and liquid silicone rubber raw materials are well known. We can find, research and explore more. Understand silica gel.
Silicone resin is mainly used as insulating paint (including varnish, enamel paint, color paint, varnish, etc.) impregnating H-class motor and transformer coils, and impregnating glass cloth, glass cloth and asbestos cloth to make motor sleeves, electrical insulation windings, etc.
Silicone resin can be used as heat-resistant and weatherproof anticorrosive coatings, metal protective coatings, waterproof and moisture-proof coatings for construction projects, demoulding agents, adhesives and secondary processing into silicone plastics, used in electronic, electrical and national defense industries, as semiconductor packaging materials and insulating materials for electronic parts.
Silicone resin can also be used as heat-resistant and pressure-resistant anticorrosive coatings, metal protective coatings, waterproof and moisture-proof coatings for construction projects, demoulding agents, adhesives and secondary processing into silicone plastics for electronic, electrical and defense industries.
Compared with other silicone materials, the variety of silicone resin is relatively small and its market share is small.
Using pure silicone resin or modified silicone resin as binder, silver paint with aluminium powder can be used at 400 - 450 C, or even 600 C. Compared with general organic resins, silicone resins have excellent weather resistance. The wavelength range of solar spectrum is more than 300 nm, while silicone resins absorb only light below 280 nm.
Hydrolysis of silicone resin usually includes two or more monomers with different hydrolysis rates. In order to flatten the difference of hydrolysis rates of different silanes and to create uniform co-hydrolysis conditions, hydrolysis and alcoholysis are usually carried out simultaneously.
