Shock absorber


High viscosity silicone oil can be used as shock absorber for torsional vibration from crankshafts of diesel engines, automobiles, tanks, etc. It can also be used as anti-swing fluid for instrument pointers of aircraft, automobiles, motorcycles, ships and various industrial devices where there are violent vibration parts, so that the instrument can display correct instructions when violent vibration occurs; at the same time, it can be used as a slow-down device. The methyl chlorophenyl silicone oil at room temperature of 300 mm2/s can be used as shock absorber for tank rotary vane hydraulic shock absorber and for the action cylinder of spacecraft transmission device. Brake fluid


Silicone oil has good hydrophobicity, chemical inertia and electrical insulation, and is suitable for automobile brake fluid. The standard of silicone oil brake fluid are MIL-B-4617A, DOT5 of FMVSS NO116, SAEJ1705 and GB10830 JG5 of China. This kind of brake fluid is used in some military vehicles, tanks and postal vehicles.


Compared with alcohol-ether brake fluid, silicone oil brake fluid has the following characteristics: low moisture absorption, almost unchanged boiling point and viscosity after moisture absorption; good compatibility for all metal and non-metal materials of brake system; no electrochemical corrosion; stable brake system, even at 250 C and - 40 C. It can operate safely in hot or humid environment.


Heat transfer oil


Silicone oil with low viscosity is a good heat transfer medium. Methyl silicone oil, methyl phenyl silicone oil and methyl phenyl ether silicone oil can transfer heat in the range of 100-300 C. Adding a small amount of thermal oxidation stabilizer can also make the working temperature higher. Methyl silicone oil and methyl phenyl silicone oil with viscosity of about 150 mm2/s (20 C) can be used as heat transfer medium in oil bath to measure high temperature viscosity of fluid instead of sulfuric acid bath to determine melting point of substance. Silicone oil has no corrosion, no color change, and can keep clear and transparent, easy to observe. Silicone oil is widely used as heat transfer oil in industry. Ethyl silicone oil with a viscosity of 200 mm2/s (20 C) can be used as heat transfer medium in the jacket of enamel reactor and used below 180 C continuously. After two years, the viscosity and acid value remain basically unchanged. Silicone oil with medium phenyl content is used as heat conduction oil in downhole operation. Tetraaryl silicate or alkyl aryl silicate can be used as heat conductive oil at 380 C by adding a small amount of heat-resistant aromatic compounds or quaternary amines to resist hydrolysis and antioxidants. As a solar heating device, the heat conduction oil is methyl silicone oil with additives. It has the characteristics of low vapor pressure, non-freezing at low temperature and non-volatilization at high temperature. It can work steadily for a long time under the maximum temperature of 200 C in the solar collector.


Electrical insulating oil


Silicone oil is suitable for insulating cooling oil, buffer oil, transformer oil, insulating impregnating oil and heat dissipating oil. Since the 1970s, silicone oil has made some breakthroughs as an electrical oil. Silicone oil transformer oil can work at 175 ~C for a long time, allowing the transformer to work at 115 ~C (generally mineral transformer oil is only 65 ~C), thus reducing the volume of transformer, safe and reliable operation, low flammability, even combustion will produce silica and self-extinguishing, eliminating the use of mineral transformer oil. Necessary firewalls and fire protection facilities. Silicone oil can be used in small transformers in aviation and radio. It can be used as filler and dielectric liquid in semiconductor and silicon rectifier components, which can improve the reliability and stability of components and prolong the service life of components. Especially methyl cyanosilicone oil, whose dielectric constant is as high as 40, is more suitable for dielectrics in electronics and electrical industry, especially for super-small capacitors.


Low viscosity methyl phenyl silicone oil has been used as insulation impregnating solution for large power capacitors with satisfactory results. Porcelain bottle insulators on substations and transmission lines are coated with silicone oil or grease with a viscosity of 3000-5000mm2/s at 25 C, which can eliminate the effects of rain, moisture and dust and operate safely for 4-5 years.


Low viscosity methyl silicone oil, ethyl silicone oil, low phenyl methyl silicone oil can also be mixed with dodecylbenzene, carbon tetrachloride and other insulating oils in a certain proportion to make fire-resistant insulating oils for transformers, capacitors, rectifiers, electromagnetic switches, conveyors, etc.
