Auxiliaries | Have you used all these dyeing and finishing auxiliaries?

Auxiliaries for printing and dyeing

There are many kinds of textile dyes and different dyeing processes, which require corresponding auxiliary agents. Therefore, there are many kinds of auxiliary agents, mainly the following:

2.1 Water softener: metal ion chelating agent

Heavy metal ions in water often affect the color or solubility of dyes. We can use water softeners to remedy the problem. The commonly used water softeners are sodium hexametaphosphate, sodium ammonia triacetate and sodium ethylenediamine tetraacetate.

2.2 Solvents and cosolvents

When some dyes are used or prepared for liquid dyes, filling solvents are needed to help them dissolve, such as ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, ethylene glycol ethers, formamide, thiodiethanol, etc. They can be used as dye solvents; when dyeing with phthalocyanine blue, matching solvents and copper salts are used, and when reducing dyes are dyed with benzylammonia, the solvents. Sodium benzenesulfonate.

2.3 Reducing Agent and Oxidant

Reducing dyes should be dissolved with reducing agent before using. The common ones are sodium dithionite, sodium formaldehyde bisulfite and thiourea dioxide. Light oxidizer sodium m-nitrobenzenesulfonate can be used in anti-dyeing of VAT dyes. This product can also be used in printing pastes to protect dyes from the possible reduction components in the pastes.

2.4 Fixing Agent and Colour Developing Assistant

When dyeing with direct dyes, acid dyes and reactive dyes, fixing agents are used before and after dyeing, which can improve the color feeding and fastness. Fixing agents are mainly amine salts and polymer quaternary ammonium salts. Dyes for printing are sometimes used as color-developing aids, such as diethyl ethanolamine for fast amine vapor-developing.

2.5 Dispersant, also known as diffuser

When printing and dyeing with disperse dyes and VAT dyes, dispersants and protective colloids should be added to ensure uniform dyeing and prevent stains. The commonly used dispersants are sulfonated oil (Archean oil, Turkish oil), sodium alkyl or long chain amidobenzene sulfonate, alkyl polyoxyethylene ether, sodium lignosulfonate, formaldehyde condensate of naphthalene sulfonate, oleyl polyamine carboxylate, etc.

2.6 leveling agent, i.e. leveling agent

Polyoxyethylene ether surfactants are commonly used as leveling agents for dyes. Cationic surfactants are used for cationic dyes and anionic surfactants are used for acidic dyes.

2.7 matting agent

Compared with natural fibers, the surface of synthetic fibers is too smooth and the reflectivity is too high, so titanium dioxide and zinc sulfide should be added to improve it.
