Institutional overview
Jiangnan University is directly under the Ministry of education, national "211 Project" key construction universities and first-class discipline construction universities. The school has a long history of running a school and profound cultural accumulation, which originated from Sanjiang normal school founded in 1902 and experienced the development period of National Central University and Nanjing University. In 1958, the Department of food industry of Nanjing Institute of technology moved eastward to Wuxi and established Wuxi Institute of light industry. In 1995, it was renamed Wuxi University of light industry. In 2001, Wuxi University of light industry, Jiangnan University and Wuxi Institute of education In 2003, Wuxi campus of Donghua University was incorporated into Jiangnan University.
The school adheres to the discipline construction concept of "selective excellence" and establishes a good discipline ecological environment. There are 18 colleges (departments), including: School of food, School of bioengineering, School of textile and clothing, School of chemical and material engineering, School of Internet of things engineering, School of environment and civil engineering, School of business, School of science, School of mechanical engineering, School of design, School of medicine, School of medicine, School of Marxism, School of humanities, School of foreign languages, School of law, School of digital media College and sports department. It covers 10 disciplines such as science, engineering, medicine, literature, law, economy, management, education and art. There are 7 post doctoral mobile stations, 7 first-class doctoral degree authorization disciplines, 29 first-class master degree authorization disciplines and 14 master degree authorization categories, including food science and engineering, light industry technology and engineering, textile science and engineering, control science and engineering, chemical engineering and technology, design science, environmental science and engineering.
