1. 1 unsaturated polyester

A variety of unsaturated silane coupling agents were compared on glass fiber in polyester laminates. Many of them are very effective coupling agents, among which the performance is superior and more details are shown in table 2. Silane coupling agents containing methacrylate (e.g. 6030) are commonly used in most general purpose polyesters. In typical polyester castings with fillers, the properties can be improved to different degrees by using various fillers and silane.

1. 2 epoxy resin

Many silanes are quite effective against epoxies, but there are some general rules for selecting the most suitable silane for a particular system. The coupling agent is at least as reactive as the particular curing system used for epoxy resins. For epoxy resins containing glycidyl functional groups, glycidyl oxy-propyl silane (e.g., 6040) is preferred. For aliphatic epoxy compounds or epoxy resins cured with anhydride, aliphatic silane is recommended.

In practical applications, the application mechanism of silane coupling agent is not always clear, but it can be selected based on experience. How to use silane with primary amine group (e.g. Chloropropyl silane is a reliable coupling agent for high temperature cured epoxy resin. Silane containing methacrylate (e.g. 6030) is an effective coupling agent for dicyandiamide cured epoxy resins.

1. 3 phenolic resin

Silane coupling agents can be used to improve almost all composites containing phenolic resins. Aminosilane can be used in glass fiber insulation with phenolic resin binder. With resorcine-formaldehyde-latex dipping solution, resorcine-formaldehyde resin or phenolic resin is used in the cord line of glass fiber tire, and furan resin and phenolic resin are used as the binder of sand core for metal casting. Combined with phenolic resin, it can be used to fix sand layer in oil well, among which 6011 and 6020 are ideal.

1. Other thermosetting resins

6300 and 6030 can be used as coupling agents for other unsaturated resins based on diallyl phthalate, acrylic monomers and crosslinkable polyolefin. Suitable for coupling agents of melamine resin, furan resin and polyimide resin.
