What is hydrophobic

      Hydrophobicity is the manifestation of the hydrophobic effect on the surface of the material. The following figure shows the force of a liquid on a solid surface, where:

      Organic silicon, that is, an organic silicon compound, refers to a compound containing a Si-C bond and at least one organic group is directly connected to a silicon atom. It is customary to use organic compounds and silicon atoms through oxygen, sulfur, and nitrogen. The linked compounds are also treated as organosilicon compounds.
      The silicone resin crosslinked macromolecular three-dimensional structure and the structure of silica crystals (such as quartz) have very similar silicon-oxygen bonds. This structural feature makes silicones have a great effect on the inorganic mineral materials containing silicon-oxygen bonds. Affinity. If silicone is applied to the surface of inorganic materials such as bricks and stone, the coating film will form an ordered and aligned state. Si-O-Si in the silicone molecules will be adsorbed on the surface of the mineral, methyl or other alkyl groups. Neatly lined up outside (see picture below). Methyl or other alkyl groups have very low surface tension and are hydrophobic groups. Therefore, this oriented array of silicone molecular films exhibits extremely strong hydrophobicity. When water vapor or raindrops in the air contact the surface of the material, the hydrophobic surface of the material plays a hydrophobic role, making it difficult for liquid water to stay on the slope and elevation, and it rolls off in the form of water droplets to prevent external moisture from entering the interior of the cement-based material penetration. In addition to being significantly water repellent, the silicone coating film also has "breathability" (see the figure below), which maintains the moisture balance of the coating itself, thereby further promoting the durability of the coating film.
