In the bubbling water system, the addition of hydrophobic silica (hydrophobic silica) particles alone has the effect of defoaming. Hydrophobic silica particles attract the hydrophobic end of surfactant on the bubble surface, and the hydrophobic particles change into hydrophilic particles and enter the water phase, completing the defoaming effect. The solid particles of hydrophobic silica are generally white carbon black particles treated with methyl silicone oil, silazane or DMC. They are immersed on the surface of the bubble locally to reduce the local surface tension of the bubble. In addition, the function of solid particles, such as inserting bubbles into the tip of a needle, accelerates the bursting of the bubble. So the defoamer containing hydrophobic silica has better defoaming effect.
