Why silica gel production is prone to "explosion", "electric shock" and "fire" caused by static electricity
This winter feels particularly dry, such as Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. At 16:30 p.m. on the 6th, the relative humidity is only 19%, which makes people feel particularly uncomfortable on the skin and lips. Such humidity is similar to that of Xinjiang desert. It's hard to imagine that it's in the coastal areas of South China.
Friends in the silica gel industry may be very confused recently. Why does the kneader produce the weather mix easily to explode? Why are the brothers in the silica gel refining workshop dying of electric desire? Why is it easy to ignite when vulcanizing agent is added to open mill recently? Why silica gel products are so easy to absorb dust recently and look dirty? Why do lighter silica gel products seem to stick together one by one, unable to realize automatic assembly?
The reasons are all caused by static electricity
First, silica gel itself is a good insulator, with very large resistance and non conductivity. The volume resistivity of the precipitated rubber reaches 1 * 1014 Ω * cm. The volume resistivity of the gas-phase rubber is 10-100 times higher than that of the precipitated rubber due to the higher purity of the raw gas phase silica, less impurities and finer particle size, reaching 1 * 1015-16 Ω * cm. Therefore, silica gel can be used to produce some electrical insulation products, such as silica gel wire, silica gel insulator, lightning arrester, cable accessories, which has made great contribution to the protection of everyone's life and property safety. However, there must be one advantage and one disadvantage in everything. Because the resistance is too large, the static electricity of silica gel products due to friction and other reasons is difficult to be transmitted and exported. All of them gather on the surface of silica gel, resulting in a series of problems.
Second, in the high humidity environment, a layer of "water film" is formed on the surface of silica gel products, which reduces the resistivity and makes the static electricity dissipate rapidly along the surface and air; in autumn and winter, due to the dry weather, the moisture is greatly reduced and the air conductivity is greatly reduced, and the static electricity can only dissipate to the internal through the way, the dissipation speed of the charge is very slow, and the static electricity lasts for a long time.
Third, in autumn and winter, everyone wears thick clothes. A large number of chemical fiber clothes generate static electricity by friction. Static electricity may also be transmitted from the human body surface to the silica gel surface, or from the silica gel surface to the human body surface, which cannot be dissipated quickly.
One way is to put several high-power humidifiers in the production and use places of silica gel products to improve the air humidity, so that the static electricity can be quickly transmitted out by the moisture in the air.
Another way is to use antistatic silicone rubber, reduce the resistance of silicone rubber, improve the conductivity of silicone rubber, and make the static electricity dissipate as soon as possible.
