In the early days, some organosilicon monomer synthesis enterprises in China used methylhydrodichlorosilane in the synthesis of methylchlorosilane to synthesize methylhydrosilicone oil, which is used to treat fabrics, so that the treated textiles have the functions of moisture-proof, hydrophobic, good hand feel and still have air permeability. The treated fabric can withstand water column pressure of 30cm. Silicone oil with hydrogen was all the rage.

However, it is not perfect to use single hydrogen silicone oil emulsion to treat textiles. Hydroxyl silicone oil emulsion was prepared by emulsion polymerization at abroad. The fabric was prepared from hydroxyl silicone oil emulsion / hydrogenated silicone oil emulsion from 6/4 to 9/1 silicone emulsion. The result is that it is ideal in softness, hand feel, smoothness, straightness and richness, water resistance and air permeability.






The earliest research on emulsion polymerization of hydroxyl silicone oil in China is the research of Lin Yi and sun Chun Zhong, Beijing Institute of chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Lin Yi studied and proposed the reaction mechanism of emulsion polymerization from a theoretical point of view. Sun Chunzhong, Li Ping, Liu Shufen and others began to develop pure methyl cationic hydroxyl silicone oil emulsion from domestic product application research, and first worked with Beijing chemical two plant to pilot production. The products are applied in Shanghai production line industry. Then, Shanghai resin factory Zhang Ji Kai, Li Yansheng, Chen Ronggen and so on, according to the cationic hydroxyl silicone oil emulsion in the process of synthesis and storage instability, floating oil, in the use of the process is not resistant to electrolytes, no frost resistance and other fatal weaknesses. According to user requirements, the compound ionic hydroxy silicone oil emulsion was developed in 1980. They can effectively control the rate of emulsion polymerization by using cation and three kinds of nonionic compounding, temperature programmed treatment, batch addition of D4 and so on, so that the rate of ring opening polymerization of D4 can be balanced with the rate of forming emulsion droplets. The product has been developed successfully, with a very stable storage property, little oil floating, and electrolyte and refrigeration products. The product is SAH-288 emulsion. By cooperating with Shanghai thread making company, Shanghai Silk Research Institute, Shanghai Daily Chemical Research Institute, Shanghai bleaching and dyeing factory and other major users to tackle key problems in application technology, the products will soon be applied in domestic thread making, knitting, printing and dyeing, silk, cosmetics and other industries, forming large-scale production, and becoming one of the main organosilicon products. In the 1981~1982 year, Sun Chunzhong, the Institute of chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shanghai resin factory, Zhang Kai Kai, Li Yansheng, Chen Ronggen and so on, jointly completed the research, development and pilot production of SAH-289 anionic and nonionic composite hydroxyl silicone oil emulsion in Shanghai. The products are quickly applied in cosmetics, textile finishing, plastics, rubber products, film and other industries.






In the past 1975~1976 years, Sun Chunzhong, Li Ping and Liu Shufen of CAS Institute of chemistry have used cationic hydroxyl silicone oil emulsion, water-soluble epoxy resin and high hydrogen silicone oil emulsion as main raw materials to develop a new type of silicone waterproof agent successfully applied to vinylon canvas, and cooperate with the general post office of PLA for the waterproof finishing of military polyvinyl canvas tent. In 1983, the achievement won the third prize of national invention and Creation Award.






The polyester sewing thread processed by silicone oil emulsion that can run on a high-speed sewing machine can reach 5000 needles per minute. This kind of treated polyester yarn was exported in large quantities to earn foreign exchange.






The Institute of chemistry has made great contributions to the preparation of silicone oil for fabric treatment and is highly respected by the industry.
