Organosilicon resins with excellent properties
Silicone resin is a synthetic compound containing silicon, oxygen and other organic groups. Among them, silicon plays a fundamental role in the product performance. In typical organic carbons, the main chain is carbon-carbon linked; in silicone resins, the main chain is alternately arranged with silicon-oxygen-silicon-oxygen atoms. This complex molecular structure makes silicone resins have excellent resistance to high and low temperature, wind erosion, oxidation and water, good electrical and dielectric properties, outstanding resistance to arc and electrical breakdown, and good heat conductivity. Silicone resins have been widely used.
Silicone resin can still maintain excellent electrical insulation performance at 500 degrees F, making it an ideal material for radome and engine manufacturing. Because silicone resin does not emit toxic gases at high temperature, it is especially suitable for missiles and aeronautics with high temperature requirements. One obvious disadvantage of this kind of silicone resin is that the mechanical properties of silicone laminated materials at room temperature are not as good as those of organic resin laminated materials. However, the mechanical strength of many organic resin layered materials has been significantly reduced at 400 - 500 degree F, while the silicone layered materials can work for a long time. Another disadvantage of organosilicon resin is that it costs more than phenolic resin.
