Silicone oil usually refers to linear polysiloxane which keeps liquid state at room temperature. It is a kind of organic silicon products with a wide range of varieties and applications. Silicone oil can be classified into methyl silicone oil, phenyl silicone oil, ethyl silicone oil, hydroxyl silicone oil, amino silicone oil, hydrogen silicone oil, vinyl silicone oil, polyether modified silicone oil, fluorosilicone oil and so on.


Several representative silicone oil varieties are described below.


1. Dimethyl silicone oil


Dimethyl silicone oil is the most common type of silicone oil, which is the most widely used and used variety. In China, the commodity name of methyl silicone oil is 201 series, the commodity brand of Dow Corning Company in the United States is DOWCORNING and XIAMETER, the main model is PMX-200 series, the commodity brand of Wake Company in Germany is AK series, and Shinyue Company in Japan is AK series. The company's brand name is KF series. China's local methyl silicone oil production enterprises are: Lanxing Jiangxi Starfire, Yichang Colin Silicon Material Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Xin'an Chemical Industry, Guangzhou Tianzhi, Shandong Dayi Chemical Industry, Jiaxing Cori Silicone, etc.


2. Phenyl Silicone Oil


The other kind of phenyl silicone oil, which is widely used, is the product obtained after partial substitution of methyl with phenyl. According to the content of phenyl, it can be divided into the following categories: low phenyl silicone oil (5%-10% of phenyl mole fraction); medium phenyl silicone oil (25% of phenyl mole fraction); high phenyl silicone oil (45% of phenyl mole fraction); high phenyl oligomerization. Suitable silicone oil (phenyl molar fraction higher than 45%) and crosslinked phenyl silicone oil.


3. Ethyl Silicone Oil


Ethyl ethoxysilane is hydrolyzed in the presence of hydrochloric acid to synthesize polysiloxane. After molecular rearrangement and fractionation in vacuum, ethyl silicone oil with different viscosities can be obtained. Used as release agent for many kinds of rubber and plastic products. This product has low volatility, low surface tension, non-toxic, non-corrosive, anti-aging, and can be prepared into different viscosities according to the needs of use. It is widely used as insulating material, precision instrument oil, hydraulic oil and special lubricating oil in electric industry.


4. Hydroxysiloxane


Hydroxy silicone oil can be used as a structural control agent for room temperature silicone rubber production and chain extender for synthesizing other products. At present, it is mainly produced by Wake Chemical, Confidence Chemical, Hubei Longma, Bluestar, Zhejiang Hengyecheng and other enterprises.


5. Amino Silicone Oil


Amino silicone oil is a basic component specially used in textile softening finishing agent, mainly concentrated in the production of Dow Corning, Blue Star, Shandong Dayi Chemical Industry, Demewak, Yichang Colin and other enterprises. Dow Corning's brand name is mainly OFX series, Maitu's brand name is TSF4708, and Xinyue's brand name is DC-8209A.


6. Hydrogen-containing silicone oil


Hydrogen-containing silicone oil from domestic manufacturers is named 202 series. At present, there are dozens of domestic enterprises producing hydrogen-containing silicone oil. Except for Zhejiang Hengyecheng, Bluestar and Xin'an Chemical Industry, other enterprises have a capacity of less than 4000 tons per year. Dow Corning's hydrogen-containing silicone oil brand is mostly MHX series, Maitu's brand is TSF series, and Xinyue's brand is mostly KF-99 series.


7. Vinyl Silicone Oil


Vinyl silicone oil is the base material for producing liquid glue and silicone gel. At present, the main production enterprises in China are: LAN-STAR spark, Zhejiang Xin'an chemical group and Zhejiang run wo. Other companies are relatively small.


8. Modified silicone oil


Among the modified silicone oils, polyether modified silicone oil has the largest amount, and is widely used as foaming agent, fiber oil agent, fabric finishing agent, cosmetics raw materials, paint leveling agent, defoamer and pesticide developer, etc. Fluorosilicone oil has excellent weatherability and lubricity because it has the common advantages of both siloxane and fluorocarbon compounds. As well as oil thinning, it should be widely used in aerospace, automobile, electromechanical and electronic machinery friction fields.
