1、 Department introduction
The school of bioengineering of Jiangnan University is the birthplace of the discipline of fermentation engineering in China. It has established the first national key discipline of fermentation engineering in China and the talent training system of this university. It is one of the most influential and competitive higher education bases in the field of Industrial Biotechnology (especially Fermentation Engineering). "Light industry technology and Engineering" won a + in the 2017 discipline evaluation of the Ministry of education, and was selected as the "double first-class" construction discipline in 2017. In 2018, the college was selected as one of the first batch of "national benchmarking colleges and departments of Party construction" cultivation and Establishment Units, and in 2019, it won the honorary title of "advanced collective of national education system".
The college has 156 full-time teachers, 50 professors, 2 researchers, 55 associate professors and 12 associate researchers. It has established the National Engineering Laboratory for grain fermentation technology and technology, the National Engineering Center for fermentation technology (Wuxi), the national microbial resources information platform, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of industrial biotechnology education, the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of sugar chemistry and biotechnology education, the modern industrial fermentation collaborative innovation center of Jiangsu Province, etc., laying a solid foundation for discipline construction, scientific research and talent cultivation Foundation.
At present, the college has more than 950 undergraduates and 1000 postgraduates.
