Classification of Silane Coupling Agents

Hits: 503 img

X and Y are two active groups with different reaction characteristics. Among them, X and inorganic glass, clay, silicon dioxide, metal, metal oxides and other strong bonds (chemical or physical); while Y and organic resin, rubber and other good bonds (chemical or physical), it is precisely because of the presence of both organic and inorganic molecules. With these functional groups, both organic and inorganic materials can be firmly bonded (coupled) by silane coupling agent to obtain satisfactory bonding. This is the origin of the name of silane coupling agent.

Silane coupling agents can be divided into three functional and two functional groups according to the number of hydrolyzable groups (i.e. X groups) connected to silicon atoms. In recent years, polymer silane coupling agents with polymer functional groups have also appeared. Overseas, because the production of silane coupling agent is mainly controlled by several large companies, in order to form a monopoly, each brand has been established. Therefore, the same product, the market can appear several brands, a wide range of names. At present, United Carbonation Corporation (UCC) is the largest silane coupling agent manufacturer in the world, and has the most varieties.
