The 2020 American Mathematical Modeling Competition for college students was held from March 6 to March 10, Beijing time. Yinchuan College of China University of mining and technology has 11 teams participating in the competition. After four days and four nights of intense competition, our school won the second prize in the international competition, and 10 teams won the third prize in the international competition.
The mathematical modeling competition of American college students, sponsored by the American Federation of mathematics and application, is the world's top mathematical modeling competition, enjoying the title of "Olympic" in mathematical modeling. The event started in 1985, and has become one of the most influential academic competitions in the world. Every year, the competition attracts outstanding students from Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of technology, Peking University and other major universities around the world to participate in the competition. This year, due to the outbreak of the new type of coronary pneumonia, instructors from pre competition training, in competition guidance and post competition summary are all online. The excellent performance in the extraordinary period fully demonstrates the team cooperation ability of teachers and students in our school to unite and overcome difficulties, coordinate and communicate, and accumulated valuable experience for vigorously promoting and continuously promoting the online and offline hybrid competition guidance methods.
This year is the fourth time for teachers and students of our school to participate in this international competition. The remarkable achievements are jointly made under the strong support of the school leaders, the unremitting efforts of students and the patient guidance of teachers. It shows the excellent quality of our teachers and students who are good at thinking, cooperating and innovating, the spirit of being aggressive and brave to work hard, reflects the achievements of our school in applied practical teaching, wins honor for our school on the international stage, and marks that our school has taken a more solid step in achieving the goal of "internationalization, high-end and individualization".
