It has excellent heat and water resistance, will not flow under the sun and rain, and maintains the air tightness of the insulating glass. Together with the second sealant, it forms an excellent moisture resistance system.

In order to ensure the appearance and quality of the insulating glass, the following technical requirements are required for the butyl sealant used:

1. Must choose suitable and guaranteed butyl sealant products;

2. Good initial tack and adhesion to glass;

3. Good sealing performance;

The following briefly discusses the problems and solutions or suggestions that are easy to occur in the use of butyl sealant:

1 Phenomenon: The butyl rubber strip coated on the aluminum spacer has burrs and is not uniform.
Reason: There may be impurities at the exit of the two plastic mouths or the mouth of the rubber mouth is not smooth.

Solutions or suggestions: Check whether there is any impurity at the exit of the two glue mouths or whether the mouth of the glue mouth is smooth.

2 Phenomenon: There is a gap (white line) between the butyl rubber strip and the first sealant after lamination.

Cause: The first sealant was not applied correctly.

Solutions or suggestions: When applying the first sealant, apply force and apply it in one direction to prevent air from being trapped in the adhesive and reduce the sealing performance of the insulating glass.

3 Phenomenon: Extrusion is not smooth after heating, and it is easy to break the glue (broken wire).

Reason: The key to the use of butyl sealant is extrusion. The control of temperature is very important in the extrusion process. The appropriate temperature control directly affects the rheological state of the butyl sealant during the entire processing process and affects the intrinsic product. Quality and aesthetics should pay special attention to temperature. If the temperature is too high, it will cause the sealant to melt too much, without strength or even molding (flow phenomenon); if the temperature is too low, the fluidity of the glue is poor, and the machine cannot squeeze out the glue, which affects the construction progress. This is the main reason for the smooth extrusion . Another reason may be that the butyl sealant contains air bubbles in the manufacturing process, which causes the glue to break during the extrusion process.






Solution or suggestion: Generally speaking, the temperature range of the extruder provided by the manufacturer is suitable. The temperature of the extruder is generally set between 110-130 ° C and the head between 112-132 ° C. between. In order to make the host produce a certain pressure and make the melt uniformly extruded, the head temperature is required to be higher than the barrel temperature. The temperature has a certain hysteresis. During the adjustment, care should be taken to gradually increase and decrease the temperature. Before the start of coating, the air should be properly vented to reduce the internal bubbles and voids, and prevent bubbles from breaking during extrusion

4 Phenomenon: The extrusion temperature is controlled properly, but the aluminum spacer and the butyl sealant have poor adhesion or poor adhesion.

the reason:

⑴Aluminum spacers or conveyors are not cleaned with oil and dust.


⑵The belt is conveyed too fast, and the aluminum spacer is too late to apply glue.


⑶ The aluminum bulkhead is skewed, it is difficult to pass through the glue application mouth or the glue application position is incorrect.


⑷The initial viscosity of the sealant itself is poor.
