Cement-based penetrating crystalline waterproof coating

Cement-based infiltration crystalline waterproof coating is a new type of rigid waterproof material based on cement, sand, etc., and mixed with active chemicals.

The incorporated active component can penetrate into the capillary pores of cement stone or concrete by means of penetration to generate water-insoluble crystalline or gel substances, plug the capillary pores, and achieve the effects of waterproofing, anti-seepage and protecting steel bars.

This material started research and development abroad 40 years ago, and it was relatively late in China, and it was not introduced until the 1990s. The earliest introduction in China is XYPEX (Cypress), produced by Canada. It is widely used for waterproofing and protecting concrete.

XYPEX has the same expansion coefficient as concrete, which can be firmly combined with the concrete building as a whole. It has high strength and durability, and can withstand the erosion of high-speed water flow. Compared with repairing materials, the cost is low, and the construction operation is simple and fast. Just add water and mix thoroughly according to the ratio required by the project and use it.

This material has been applied to some hydraulic structures in China, such as the key projects of Huanglong Reservoir faceplate concrete, the National Grand Theater, and the Capital Airport.

From the beginning of research to now, cement-based infiltration crystalline waterproofing materials have been developed globally, such as VANDEX in Switzerland, XYPEX in Canada, FORMDEX in Germany, PENETRON in the United States and other brands.

These emerging concrete repair materials have been applied in engineering. But we should notice while applying waterproof coating:

Some scholars have pointed out that the performance of permeable crystalline waterproof materials is related to many factors.

In addition, whether the effect of cement-based penetrating crystalline waterproof coating is consistent with the effect of product promotion has to be tested in a wide range, because some engineering examples have proved that the use of this coating has not achieved the effect of anti-seepage.
