Silicone pressure sensitive adhesive -- a wise choice for protecting intelligent equipment


With the rapid development of communication equipment in recent years, smart phones have become an indispensable part of modern life. The touch screen is the most important human-computer interface, which has the dual functions of display and operation. The quality of the screen naturally becomes one of the key factors when people purchase.


Because many smart phones are expensive, it becomes more and more important to protect their high-quality screens from scratches and bumps in use. When the mobile phone leaves the factory, the manufacturer usually pastes a film on the screen surface to prevent the screen damage caused by scratch and bump that may occur during the transportation or sale of the mobile phone. Most consumers will tear off this simple protective film and stick a layer of self-adhesive protective film (e.g. toughened film) after they get the new mobile phone, so as to prevent the huge impact when the mobile phone is dropped by accident or the fatal damage to the screen when the hot cigarette butts are accidentally touched. Silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive is widely used in this thin and tough protective film.


Pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) is generally applied to both the temporary protective film provided by the manufacturer and the toughened film pasted by the consumers themselves. The appropriate PSA can help the protective film stick to the screen surface when it is pasted, and in the later stage, it can be completely peeled off from the screen surface without damaging the screen.


The pressure-sensitive adhesive is mainly divided into acrylic acid, PU adhesive and organosilicon. The thickness is usually 15 to 25 mm. It is used to bond the polyester film in the middle layer and the toughened film on the surface layer. At the same time, the whole protective film is tightly attached to the screen surface of the smart phone.


The chemical and physical properties of different types of pressure-sensitive adhesives are quite different. In order to achieve a perfect fit in the early stage and a complete stripping in the later stage, silicone pressure-sensitive adhesives have many advantages.
