What's the difference between silicone resin and common resin

Silicone resin is a kind of polymer which consists of silicon atom and oxygen atom alternately linked to form a skeleton, and different organic groups are connected with silicon atom. Organosilicon resin structure contains both "organic group" and "inorganic structure". This special composition and molecular structure make it integrate the characteristics of organic matter and the functions of inorganic matter. The following is a brief introduction to the performance and application of silicone resin.

Properties of silicone resin

1. High temperature resistance

Generally, the heat-resistant temperature of synthetic resin paint is below 150 ℃, while the silicone paint can be used for a long time at 200 ℃. If high temperature pigment is added, the heat resistance can reach 400 ℃ ~ 500 ℃, and the special one can reach 800 ℃ ~ 900 ℃. Therefore, it is suitable for coating high temperature resistant parts.

2. Electrical performance and hydrophobicity number

Due to the non-polar organic genes and molecular symmetry in the outer layer of silicone paint, it is the basic reason for its good electrical insulation and hydrophobicity. In the aspect of insulation, it not only has high insulation resistance, but also has excellent performance in the aspects of breakdown amplitude and high-voltage arc spark resistance. Therefore, it can be used to impregnate the motor and parts with high insulation performance requirements, so as to improve the insulation level of insulated parts.

3. High surface activity and low tension

Because polysiloxane is a symmetrical molecule and the substituent is an organic group with non polarity, the whole formula is non-polar. The intermolecular force is small, and the cohesive force of the molecule is small. Therefore, the surface tension is small. When it is dispersed on the surface of the medium with larger surface tension, it can separate the medium, and because the force between the molecule itself and the medium is also small, it can reduce the surface tension of the medium and make it difficult to form foam. This is the reason why silicone oil can be used as defoamer in paint making. Therefore, it can be used as defoamer and leveling agent in paint preparation to prevent paint film from shining and pitting. The dosage is 0.2% - 0.3%.

4. Good cold resistance

Due to the structure of silicone paint macromolecules, the attraction between the molecules is weak, so it has good cold resistance. The cold resistance of pure silicone is about - 50 ℃, while polyester modified silicone paint W31-1 can withstand temperatures below - 80 ℃, so it can be used in colder places.

5. Good chemical resistance

Due to the existence of ether bond in silicone paint, it has good chemical resistance. For example, the paint film is immersed in 2% acetic acid: 10% hydrochloric acid, 10% nitric acid, 10% sulfuric acid, 10% caustic soda, 10% sodium nitride or butanol, kerosene. After 100 hours, the paint film is still good.

6. Good mildew resistance

Because the silicone paint does not contain oil, so mold can not survive on the silicone paint film, so the silicone paint has better anti mold performance, which is suitable for coating on parts with special anti mold requirements.

Resin usually refers to the softening or melting range after being heated. When softened, it tends to flow under the action of external force. It is a solid, semi-solid or sometimes liquid organic polymer at room temperature. In a broad sense, any polymer compound that can be used as raw material for processing plastic products is called resin.

The relative molecular weight is uncertain but usually high. It is a solid, medium solid, pseudosolid, and sometimes liquid organic matter at room temperature. It has a softening or melting temperature range, tends to flow under the action of external forces, and often breaks in a shell shape. In a broad sense, it refers to polymer or prepolymer used as plastic substrate. Generally insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents. According to the source, it can be divided into natural resin and synthetic resin; according to the characteristics of its processing behavior, it can also be divided into thermoplastic resin and thermosetting resin.
